He began his career as an insurance broker before entering politics. Despite failing in his first two attempts to become an MP, he did not give up hope and was elected to the Igembe South Constituency in 2007.
He is one of those legislators who has been embroiled in a number of scandals. Marianne Kitany, his ex-wife, who had held a key position in the office of the vice president, accused him of attempting to poison her, abusing her, and transferring her property to himself. He ran for the Igembe South parliamentary seat on the Safina party ticket in 1997, but lost to Jackson Itirithia Kalweo, who ran on the KANU party banner. He ran for the Igembe parliamentary seat again in 2002, this time on the KANU party ticket. He was defeated by Raphael Muriungi of the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC).
He ran for the Igembe South parliamentary seat for the third time in 2007. This time, the chances were in his favor, and he was elected to the KANU party's seat. As a result, he was elected to the 10th Parliament.
He ran for the TNA party's Igembe South constituency seat in 2013. In March of that year, he was appointed to the Departmental Committee on Energy, Communications, and Information, as well as the Public Investments Committee and the House Business Committee.

In a second report published on March 8, 2021 by Business Daily, the legislator was accused of acquiring sh530 million by forgery.
