Abraham Kithure Kindiki, the current cabient secretary for Interior in Kenya and former Tharaka Nithi senator and Senate deputy speaker, was impeached after a successful motion in which 54 senators voted in favor of the motion and just 7 opposed it. This was owing to his failure to attend a Parliamentary group meeting called by President Uhuru Kenyatta at the State House in Nairobi. He is usually considered one of the most sober politicians in Kenya.
He was born in Irunduni village in Mukothima ward of Tharaka Nithi county.
Kindiki Kithure is the tenth child in a family of 10 children. His four brothers have all studied to very high degrees and are all professors. Professor Nyagah Kindiki, his elder brother, is a professor at Moi University. Stephen Kithinji Kaniki is a linguistics professor at Daystar University. Professor Jonah Nyaga Kindiki is the head of the faculty of education at Moi University. Professor Isaiah Iguna Kindiki is a soil and physics professor. His other brothers are on their way to becoming professionals. This is, undoubtedly, a learned family.
Kindiki is also married to Joyce; the couple married in the year 2000 and have two children.
Kindiki was a law student at Moi University from 1994 to 1998. This was after completing his Kenya Certificate of Education at Lenana School. He subsequently went on to complete his PHD in International Law at the University of Pretoria.
Kindiki began his political career in 2008, although he has yet to achieve national recognition. He obtained this while representing William Ruto as one of his lawyers in the ICC case. He later ran for Tharaka Nithi's senate seat as a member of the TNA political party.
