Ezekiel Machogu was named Education Secretary to replace Magoha. The docket is the busiest in Kenya. CS education is quite important in the country. This enables the proper operation of the school sector, which has been severely impacted by the Corona virus pandemic during the last two years. The office has previously been held by influential politicians such as Fred Matiangi, Maghoha, and the late Prof. George Saitoti. Kisii from the Abaghusii ethnic group are Ezekiel Machogu's tribe. He was born in 1956 and is currently 66 years old (2022). Since 2017, Ezekiel Ombaki has been a member of the NAPK party. The politician attended his primary school (unspecified), then Nduru secondary school in 1970-1973, and Agoro Sare high school in 1974 for his A-Level certificate. In 1976, he enrolled at Nairobi University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA)
Ezekiel has had a fruitful career in which he has held numerous positions. He joined the office of the President, then the Late President Daniel Moi, as a District Officer (D.O) in 1976 and remained there till 1997. He held the same role from 1998 to 2008, during the term of late President Mwai Kibaki. In 2017, he was elected to the Kisii National Assembly from his constituency of Nyaribari Masaba. Ezekiel is now serving as Cabinet Secretary in President William Ruto's administration. He will take over the Ministry of Education previously held by George Maghoha.
