He began his career as an auditor at Family Finance and Building Society in 1994.

He joined All Rajhi Bank in Saudi Arabia in 1995 as the head of business process re-engineering.

He was the chief operating officer of Wamad Information Service in Dubai in 2007. He entered politics the same year, working for President Mwai Kibaki. He was the spokesman and head of programming for the Party of National Unity (PNU).

He was elected as the Member of Parliament for Gatundu South Constituency in 2013. He was elected to the office after Jossy Ngugi, who was elected through the TNA party and had recently died, died. His only opponent, Joachim Kamere of the New Democratic Party, dropped out.

He also became the National Alliance party's official in charge of strategy (TNA). In 2017, he was re-elected as the Jubilee Party's Member of Parliament for Gatundu South. Moses Kuria later joined the hustlers movement led by Deputy President William Ruto. He was also at the forefront of criticizing President Uhuru Kenyatta's and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's Building Bridges Initiative (BBI). He also became the leader of the People's Empowerment Party (PEP).

Moses Kuria took the lead in pushing Ruto's presidential run in the Mt. Kenya region. He promoted the vice president's bottom-up economic message.

While other politicians wished Kuria a speedy recovery, Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru said the legislator deserved to be in the hospital.

Her WhatsApp message to Moses Kuria was as follows:

“I’m sorry your feet deep fried and burnt. Whoever bought that warmer machine without proper doctors prescription will tell us why your nerves failed you.”
