Brenda Kawira, 29, allegedly jumped 50 feet to her death on February 21, 2023, in Nairobi's Kasarani estate at around 11:30 p.m.
On March 12, 2023, she was buried in Meru County, 17 days later.
The only witness in the suicide claim was her boyfriend, who admitted to arguing on their way to the bedroom.
He claimed that Ms Kawira stormed out of her bedroom on the fourth floor of the rental apartment, went to the balcony, and committed the suicide jump.
The death ended the life of a bright woman described as full of life and optimism; a fighter who had taken her fair share of beatings but persevered.
Ms Kawira was born on January 3, 1994, in the family of a Catholic priest, Peter Gitonga, and Mama Catherine Gakii. She has three brothers and two sisters.
She was the late Gianna's mother.
Ms Kawira attended Nkubu Primary School from 1997 to 2006 before transferring to St Mary's Igoji Secondary School from 2007 to 2010.
In September 2021, the late Kawira graduated with honors from the University of Nairobi, where she was studying medical biochemistry with a goal of becoming a geneticist.
He briefly taught Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry at Kaanwa and Marimanti girls' secondary schools before she moved to a Nairobi-based pharmaceutical company where she worked until her death.
She had also received a scholarship to study for a Master's degree in Australia, and she planned to leave the country in June 2023.
In the aftermath of her death, her relatives, friends, and police officers who spoke to Nation.Africa last week expressed a strong desire to revisit the chronology of events that ended Ms Kawira's life.
According to a police report, the boyfriend summoned several neighbors who assisted him in rushing her to Uzima Hospital on Thika Road, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
While her body was still in the backseat of a personal car, police were called to the hospital.
"Physical examination revealed visible injuries and bruises on her face," according to the police incident report.
Her right thigh, left side of the neck, left cheek, and legs were all bruised, according to the autopsy report.
"Internal bleeding" was the cause of death.
According to Dr. Gitonga, the police report and the autopsy report do not agree on logic.
