On Sunday, Belgium will face Azerbaijan at the King Baudouin Stadium in their final UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier.
The hosts' last qualifier match against Sweden was called off last month due to a terrorist attack in Brussels that resulted in the deaths of two Swedes. They are second in Group F with 17 points from seven games and have qualified for the main event next year.
On Thursday, they played a friendly against Serbia to prepare for their final game of the qualification campaign. Yannick Carrasco's second-minute goal was the difference in their 1-0 victory.
The visitors won their second qualifying match of the season on Thursday, defeating Sweden 3-0 at home. Emin Mahmudov had a hat trick, and Renat Dadashov also scored. Bahlul Mustafazada was sent off in the second half and will be suspended for the remainder of the game.
With both teams' fates already decided in the qualifiers, this game is merely a formality.
Die Roten Teufel have been unbeaten in the qualifiers so far and will look to finish the season unbeaten. They have won 12 of their last 17 home games in European qualifiers, and are expected to have the upper hand in this match.
Domenico Tedesco rested key players in the friendly against Serbia, including Jan Vertonghen, Jérémy Doku, and Romelu Lukaku, and the trio could start this match. Amadou Onana was injured during practice and has since left the camp.
Milli Komanda scored three goals in European qualifiers for the first time since 2011 on Thursday and will look to continue her scoring streak here. In their three away games in the ongoing qualification campaign, they have conceded nine times while scoring only three times.
While the game has no significance for either team, they will both want to end the season on a high note. Nonetheless, given the hosts' superior head-to-head record and current form, they should be able to eke out a narrow victory.
Prediction: Belgium 2-1 Azerbaijan
