Murega Baicu, also known as Robert Murega Rimberia, is a musician, manager, and co-owner of Baite. He has a handful of songs that are well-known in the Meru community. However, his association with politician and recently elected Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza catapulted him to national prominence. He has always supported his wife, as evidenced by his playing the guitar while singing compliments to her throughout the election campaign.
In fact, after winning the gubernatorial election in 2022, Mwangaza thanked Baicu and praised his guitar talents, which she feels helped them win the seat.
Baicu is also a Meru TV Station host. They co-host the Baite Family Sunday Live Service with his wife. He pastors in addition to hosting.
Relationship with Kawira
Murega, and in 2018, Kawira wedded in a magnificent wedding ceremony in Meru. During a prior interview, he stated that the politician was drawn to him because of his guitar skills. He continued by saying that Kawira was a lover of his music and would go to concerts and other occasions where he performed.
The musician also mentioned that his wife adored the way he dressed in his distinctive panama hats.
When she entered politics, he chose to support her and even offered to be her personal assistant, which raised eyebrows.
Sh1.2 million claim
Baicu was one of the artists who queued up to perform during the swearing-in event. He played his famed guitar to celebrate his wife's victory. This fuelled speculation that he was compensated for his achievement with Sh1.2 million. The governor, on the other hand, denied these claims. She was not a part of the planning committee, and her husband was not reimbursed in any manner for his contributions.
Family Negligence Allegations
Local press stated in 2020 that Robert Murega had ignored his first family. By customary law, he was apparently married to Sabina, but the pair divorced in 2015. His daughter told The Standard that her family had been ignored and that she couldn't afford college.
When pressed to reply, he revealed that his ex-wife had taken him to court over child custody.
In another case, Robert Murega admitted to having six children with several women before Hon. Mwangaza. He also remarked that everything is in order. His wife, on the other hand, claimed to be aware of her husband's numerous connections.
