Mr. P, or Peter Okoye, is without a doubt Nigeria's most popular musician and choreographer. Peter Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, is the twin brother of Paul Okoye and a member of the defunct P-Square group; a sensational group comprised of the two twin brothers and was notably recognized for their incredible music videos, burst of energies, melodious songs, and well-choreographed performances. Unfortunately, the couple split up after failing to resolve their irreconcilable differences.
Mr. P's solo career has experienced steady growth and continues to defy odds despite several backlashes from fans of the defunct group (P-Square) who claim Rudeboy is doing better.
Peter Okoye (born November 18, 1981), better known as 'Mr P,' is a Nigerian musician, songwriter, and recording artist who was a member of the defunct P-Square group. He is from the Anambra State town of Ifite in the Dunu district. Peter Okoye attended St. Murumba Secondary School in Jos, Nigeria, and then went on to study Business Administration at the University of Abuja.
Despite being from Anambra State, Peter was born in Jos with his twin brother, Paul. The couple attended St. Murumba Secondary School in Jos before attending the University of Abuja to study Business Administration.
Peter and his brother joined their school's music and drama club, where they began singing, dancing, and imitating songs by MC Hammer, Bobby Brown, and Michael Jackson.
Later, they would co-found the Acappella quartet "MMMPP" (M Clef a.k.a. Itemoh, Michael, Melvin, Peter, and Paul). They began break dancing after being inspired by their music idol Michael Jackson and formed the group "Smooth Criminals" in 1997. They removed M Clef from the group "MMMPP," which was later changed to "MMPP." Their artistic ability and precise dance routine quickly made them household names in Jos, where they performed at school functions and other events.
Later that year, Peter returned to music school with his twin to hone his skills on the keyboard, drums, bass, and rhythm guitar. Their work includes soundtracks for films such as Tobi, Mama Sunday, Moment of Bitterness, and Evas River.
They both applied to the University of Abuja to study Business Administration the same year. The Smooth Criminals disbanded after its members transferred to other universities. Following that, Peter and Paul formed their own band, which they dubbed "Double P," "P&P," and "Da Pees" before settling on "P-Square." Bayo Odusami aka Howie T, a seasoned concert promoter and the CEO of Adrot Nigeria Limited, managed them.
Peter was the former P-Square group's showman. He was in charge of the choreography and dance moves used by the group during live performances and music videos. After several back and forths with the group, the twin sensation split up due to irreconcilable differences and chose a career path that would come to define them to this day. Prior to their divorce, it was rumored that influential Nigerians such as Aliko Dangote intervened to settle their differences. The group's demise signaled the end of their multi-million Naira sponsorship with Globacom Telecommunications, Nigeria's indigenous telecommunications company.
Peter's power was never in his singing. However, based on his current solo songs, we believe he must have influenced a couple of songs during P-Square's reign. Get Squared, Alingo, Danger, and other energetic songs were most likely recorded by the group.
Since his solo career began, Peter has recorded a number of songs but has had little success in comparison to his twin brother, Paul, who has been described by fans as the duo's most successful member.
One More Night, Karma, Cool Down, Wokie Wokie, and For My Head are among the songs Peter has recorded. Despite being fairly consistent, he is frequently chastised for his musical style, which is primarily distinguished by his colorful and energetic choreographies.
Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P, is married to Lola Omotayo-Okoye, his long-time girlfriend, and they have two children, a boy and a girl. Mr P's first son, Andre, is a rising football star who is currently enrolled at the Barcelona Academy in Spain. Lola Omotayo is said to be older than Peter Okoye (Mr P).
Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P, is one of Nigeria's wealthiest musicians, with an estimated net worth of $11 million. He is also the CEO and owner of Zoom Lifestyle Lottery and owns a mansion in Atlanta, Georgia, next to his twin brother's.
