Jannie Moolman is a South African singer who was born in KwaZulu-Natal. He performs opera and Afrikaans songs and is well-known for his role as a celebrity coach on Supersterre (season 3).
He began his opera career after graduating from a prestigious university. Many people recognize him as the brains behind several hits.
Moolman worked as a presenter on the television show Kom ons Karaoke. It was broadcast on Afrikaans television channel kykNET.
Early Life
Jannie Moolman was born in South Africa's coastal province of Kwazulu Natal. He began his professional opera career in 1990.
Education
He graduated from the University of the Free State with a degree in Communication.
Career
In 1992, he debuted as a soloist at the Pretoria State Theatre, two years into his opera career. He appeared in several stage productions there.
In 1994, Jannie Moolman made his Cape Town debut in The Count Of Luxembourg. He played Rene in the opera, and he has since appeared in other operas.
Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Pinkerton (Madam Butterfly), and Don José (Carmen) are among his opera credits.
Jannie Moolman, his first solo album, was released in 2003. The album was a mix of opera and light music.
In 2007, he released another album under the title Hoeveld Kleure (Highveld Colors). After another two years, he released Ek Kom Huistoe (I Come Home) in 2007.
At the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival, they collaborated on the stage production Ge Korsten: Hoor My Lied (Hear My Song). Jannie has also appeared in other musical productions such as Klassieke Pelle. Janice Honeyman is the production's writer.
In Italy, he competed in the Marsala International Singing Competition Sangkompetisie. He finished the competition in second place. In Wenen, Moolman placed third in the Belvedere International Singing Competition.
Personal Life
Until their divorce in 2010, Moolman was married to Annake de Villiers. His ex-wife was a violinist who committed suicide in 2012, two years after their divorce.
Awards
A KKNK award, co-presented by Dozi, for the artists who caused the most uproar at the festival. For his performance as Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor (1992), he received a FNB Vita Life Award for the Most Promising Sanger. The State Theatre/SAA Opera Foundation Award was given in 1993. FNB Vita Life Award for Best Male Singer Performance (1997). He received a FNB Vita Life Award for his role as Dominee Venter in Roelof Temmingh's Buchuland (1998). In addition, he received a FNB Vita Life Award in 1999 for his performance as Prince Karl Franz in The Student Price.
