Mike Njenga is a Kenyan journalist who has worked for the country's largest media outlet. His path to becoming a well-known face on Kenyan television screens was not an easy one. He was so broke at one point that he was embarrassed. In an interview, he described how a priest made hurtful remarks about him because of his predicament. The insults were so terrible that he has yet to fail that humiliation.
"A few years ago, I was performing at a certain church. I used to do sound for that specific church and would sometimes sleep at city hall on days when we had meetings there. I was completely bankrupt. I went to my cousin's house one Sunday and borrowed open shoes.
The news analyst then described how the pastor contacted him and other pastors and yelled at them for not dressing appropriately while on the pulpit. He went on to explain that several of them were wearing open shoes, as if they were walking down the beach. What hurt even more was that he had borrowed money to attend to church that day, and it wasn't his intention to dress poorly; he simply didn't have the money.
Anyway, the reporter has come a long way since then, and many people know him for his ability to provide news. His use of the English language, gentle demeanor, and general appearance have earned him the admiration of many Kenyans.
Career
He began his work at Eagles Creations as a production supervisor in both audio and video after graduating with a Diploma in Journalism.
He joined TBN Family Media in June 2003 as a radio presenter and was quickly promoted to Team Manager Radio, a position he held until his retirement.
Later, he joined the Royal Media Services and began working for Citizen TV. He began with Citizen TV by hosting his own live bulletin, Live at 4. He progressed through the ranks and began hosting the 9:00pm news with famed reporter Catherine Kasavuli before moving on to host Business Center with Terryanne Chebet.
He left Citizen TV to work for Inooro TV, where he still works now.
Family
Michael is the second kid in a family of four. He lost his father in 2018, as demonstrated by his social media headquarters around the time.
Marriage
Five years ago, the former Citizen TV reporter married Phoebe Wanjiku. On January 11, 2016, the couple exchanged vows at the PCEA Evergreen Church in Runda, Nairobi. The two met at a dinner thrown by a friend, and after one year of dating, Michael proposed. He has four children with his wife.
His Properties
Njenga is not one of those well-known people who are constantly on the verge of deprivation due to a lack of forethought. According to a story on Opera news, Mike Njenga has a number of business interests dispersed across the country. He allegedly owns a hotel and restaurant in Nairobi, of which he serves as the director. In Kiambu, he has also ventured into dairy and pig farming. In addition, he owns a four-story building in Kenol that has been leased for business purposes.
