Early Years

Maleek Berry was born in a public hospital in London on August 11, 1987, to Nigerian parents Mr. and Mrs. Shoyebi. By birth, he was granted British citizenship.

Maleek Berry's parents were both Muslims from southwest Nigeria. He was raised in the United Kingdom and visited Nigeria on occasion. During such visits, he would spend time at his grandparents' house and converse with his cousins.

Maleek Berry grew up in London, where he was exposed to a diverse musical landscape that included songs by American performers, British musicians, and African singers. He became immediately interested in the craft and decided to pursue music. But first, he decided to work in audio production.

With his parents' assistance, he began learning how to make beats by purchasing some music production tools. 

Over the course of a few years, he honed his craft and began producing beats for the city's upcoming singers.

Maleek Berry aspires to work in the Nigerian music industry. So, after receiving his university diploma, he decided to return to Nigeria and contribute to the development of the sector.

After returning to Nigeria, Maleek Berry met Banky W and signed to the E.M.E (Empire Music Entertainment) label.

Maleek Berry's musical talent wowed Banky W, who introduced him to Wizkid so they could collaborate on quality music. He rose to prominence after creating the rhythm for Wizkid's hit song, Azonto. 
 

Maleek Berry got more producing jobs as a result of the song, which was a club hit and received a lot of radio airplay.
