Kimoi Moi's Biography in Summary

It has long been customary for wealthy children to carry on their parents' legacy and follow in their parents' footsteps.

However, James David Kimoi Moi, the eldest son of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and grandson of Kenya's second President Daniel Arap Moi, dared to change the narrative by abandoning civil engineering to pursue potato farming.
Kimoi earned a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. Prior to that, he attended the exclusive Harrow School in London for secondary school.

He, on the other hand, abandoned the illustrious career and decided to get his hands 'dirty' in the literal sense. He is the current director of Agrico East Africa Company, which is regarded as one of the country's most elite potato seed companies.

The trained engineer is also a director at Kongoy Farm, a family-owned business that specializes in large-scale farming in the Rift Valley.

The company, based in Nakuru County, imports 200 to 300 tonnes of potato seeds from the Netherlands each year. The seeds are then multiplied on the farm and sold at a higher price.

Kimoi stated in a previous media interview that the company's goal is to reach out to farmers and supply quality seeds by incorporating technology.

Kimoi has traveled across various countries in his quest to improve marketing strategies and smart farm mechanisms, gathering reliable information to incorporate into the company.

When Gideon's son is not working on the farm, he enjoys playing polo, a sport that runs in the family. His father and brother, Kigen Moi, are also fans of the exclusive game.

Kimoi has made significant contributions to the sport, winning numerous awards and leading his team, Ultimate, to the Connaught Cup championships in 2019.
