In 1997, Fernandes Barasa started working for Kenya Airways as an assistant accountant.

Years later, in 2010, he began working at KETRACO as the Chief Financial Officer.


In 2015, he would advance to become the organization's Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

He was the Chairman of the esteemed Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya from 2015 to 2017 and is a Fellow of Chartered Professional Accountants (FCPA).

From June 2015 to July 2017, he also served as the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) chairman.


In honor of his exceptional and distinguished service to the country in a variety of positions, he received The Order of Grand Warrior (OGW) award while serving as the Managing Director (MD) and CEO of Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO).
