He was also named one of the 100 most credible Africans, with the late UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and Tanzanian media mogul Reginald Mengi.

Kenyans may feel the weight of his reign within a few months of his election at KFCB. Ezekiel Mutua has a thick skin, and no amount of criticism has made him change his mind. During his tenure as CEO, many immoral practices were prohibited, and he will be known as a no-nonsense CEO. Here's some background about him and the films that were banned under his supervision:

Ezekiel Mutua Age

He is the sixth child in a family of eleven. His father was a traditional brewer of liquor:

"My father brewed Karubu, the indigenous Kamba liquor." He was Kaloleni's best, and his Karubu drew drinkers from all walks of life to his establishment. A customer observed my talent and told my father, "This one should go to school tomorrow," Ezekiel Mutua said.

Dr. Ezekiel is married to Jane Mutua and has two sons. Jane is not only beautiful, but also a great businesswoman. She is a Save the Children International education advisor and a former UNICEF Kenya education specialist.

The KFCB CEO began primary education at the age of ten before moving on to Tala High School. He aced his exams and attended Kenyatta University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Linguistics. Ezekiel Mutua Career

He began as a trainee reporter in 1994 and ascended through the ranks to become a sub editor at the Nation Media Group in 1998. In 2001, he was appointed secretary of the Kenyan Union of Journalists (KUJ). The KUJ is a professional Union of Journalists that advocates for both the interests of journalists as workers and press freedom.

He joined the government in 2007 as the director of Information and Public Communication before becoming the information secretary and then the CEO of Kenya Film and Classification Board.

Ezekiel Mutua KFCB

He became a household name after becoming the CEO of KFCB. Ezekiel is a devout Christian who values morals. Many people believe that his position is influenced by his religion. The world today is not the same as it was in the twenty-first century. The new generation of millennials is growing increasingly daring. Topics such as sex, which was formerly considered taboo, are now being accepted. The Kenya Films and Classification Board has been tasked with classifying all films before they are released to the public. The CEO takes this position seriously and has banned a large amount of content that he believes should not be shown during the watershed period.

This includes advertising as well. Some advertising, such as the Durex condom advertisement and the Coca-Cola advertisement featuring lovers locked in a passionate kiss, have been banned.

Songs prohibited during Ezekiel Mutua's reign include:

The public performance of the diamond platinumz hit song "Tetema" (Twerk) has been prohibited. It's only permitted in pubs and bars.
Wamlambez Wamnyonyez (lick and suck) is also permitted in taverns and bars. only
The song "Takataka" (Trash) by Alvindo (Alvin) has also been banned. This song, according to Dr. Mutua, is dirty and belongs in the sewer. They claim the music reeks of misogyny, violence, and vulgar language. The main character in "Takataka" tells a woman whose heart is as evil as the devil that he will bewitch her and attend her funeral.
He also chastised Akothee, a local musician, after photos of her executing lewd acts during a public concert went viral. He stated that the stunts were amusing.

Songs and advertisements are not the only things that have been banned. Some movies, he believes go against Kenya’s social and cultural values gave been banned:

  • Fifty Shades of Grey, a novel adaptation movie from USA was prohibited in Kenya due to it’s erotic scenes
  • “Rafiki,” a film directed by Wanuhi Kahiu was also banned. It depicts the story of two young women, Kena and Ziki, who meet and fall in love. The homosexuality theme did not resonate well with the board. Homosexuality acts are illegal in Kenya and punished by 14 years in prison
Because of excessive images of nudity, sex, drunkenness, drug use, and profanity, the international film "Wolf of Wall Street" was prohibited.

If you think the moral cop ends there, think again; he has previously prohibited gatherings. He banned a party in 2016 after its organizers distributed marketing posters in Nairobi proclaiming that "no one is going home a virgin" and that it would be "one night to lose your virginity."

In addition, the former journalist believes that music played in public service vehicles should be suitable for general viewing.
