However, police discovered blood on his clothing. He would later admit that he had choked Sidnee to unconsciousness, dragged her to his car, and then driven her to the bridge where he shot her.

He couldn't have committed the murder on his own, so the police investigated further. Another P-Town Saints player, James Glazier, was added. While being questioned, he admitted to taking part in the crime and named Robbie Mueller as a third party.

On the evening of July 19, James Glazier and Carl Dane entered Sidnee's house without permission. Robbie kept a close eye on them as they passed through the patio door. After choking her until she passed out, Jame and Carl dragged her to their parked car.

After the three lads drove to the bridge, Dane shot Sidnee two to four times. Then she was thrown into a river. They would then return and weigh down the body by tying it to a cement block.

Carl Dane confessed to first-degree murder in 2011. He was sentenced to 60 years in prison. Nonetheless, the evening before he was to be transferred from the county jail to IDOC custody, he was arrested.

Bennett had previously been charged with murder, aggravated kidnapping, breaking and entering, residential burglary, and home invasion. However, those charges were dropped in 2013.
