What caused the death of the young blogger Sniper?
Daniel Muthiani was a young ambitious man who dared to dream. He touched a livewire and was murdered by powerful politicians to protect themselves from his exposes. While the DCI have not concluded their investigation, it's clear who murdered it and where the investigation is headed into.
Five more suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Meru-based blogger Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper are being held for 21 days by police.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stated that the 21-day period will allow them to complete investigations, despite the fact that more suspects have yet to be arrested.
The deceased was lured by the five suspects through a phone call claiming that a senior county official wanted to meet him, according to the investigators.
A key suspect has already been charged with murder, and police are looking for more.
Sniper vanished on December 2, 2023, and his body was discovered on December 16, 2023.
As part of the investigation, more suspects were arrested and questioned in Meru on Thursday.
They were scheduled to appear in court in Nairobi.
An autopsy on the deceased's body at the Marimanti Level 4 Hospital mortuary in Tharaka Nithi County revealed that he died of strangulation.
According to government pathologist Johansen Oduor, Sniper had marks on his neck and showed signs of having been deprived of oxygen.
He also had fractured ribs and head injuries, implying that he was strangled before being thrown into a river.
