Before the international break, it appeared that Newcastle United and Chelsea were heading in opposite directions.
As a result, Saturday's match at St James' Park has the potential to be an exciting one.
The London giants began this season as a continuation of last season's disaster, and their massively expensively assembled squad appeared to be heading for more mediocrity.
They have only lost once in their last eight games, and they appear to have gained a lot of confidence, especially after that incredible 4-1 win at Spurs.
They then faced off against English and European champions Manchester City before the break, resulting in an even more entertaining 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge, where they had to show real grit to keep pace with City.
The Toon Army has had a strange season, lacking consistency. They have produced some outstanding performances and results, including victories over Arsenal in the league, City and Manchester United in the League Cup, and PSG at home in the Champions League.
But they've also made some blunders, not least in their most recent defeat at Bournemouth, which prompted Kieran Trippier and Geordie fans to exchange 'words.' It's not a good look.
How the bookmakers see it
There isn't much to choose between these two teams, though Newcastle is the slight favorite at 6/4 with Paddy Power, while Chelsea is 7/4 with bookmarkers. With William Hill, the draw is 5/2.
Recent competitions
Newcastle won 1-0 at St James' Park and drew 1-1 in the capital last season. Chelsea had previously won the last four meetings between the clubs.
Players to keep an eye on
Anthony Gordon has been in excellent form for Newcastle and has been tipped for a surprise Scotland call-up rather than his native England. UniBet has the former Everton player at 17/5 to score.
Chelsea's Cole Palmer scored an injury-time penalty in their thrilling match against Manchester City.
Is there anything else that catches your eye?
It's difficult to predict which version of these two teams will appear this season, and there's a good chance the game will end in an entertaining draw, as Chelsea did against Manchester City.
Newcastle does the majority of their good work at home and must be feeling the effects of the Bournemouth debacle.
This should result in goals, as Chelsea has been particularly prolific at both ends recently. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals are available at 11/10 with bookmarkers.
