Zachariah Mwangi Njeru rose through the ranks from Ward Administrator in Nakuru County to Cabinet Secretary. On Tuesday, September 28th, President William Ruto appointed him to the cabinet secretaryship of Lands and Physical Planning.
Zachariah Mwangi Njeru was born in Kenya in 1966. There is no information about his upbringing or primary school education.
For secondary school, the new cabinet secretary attended Bondeni High School in Nakuru, Nakuru Day Secondary School, and later Nyandarua High School. He attended Moi University and earned a BSc in Information Science.
In 2015, he enrolled in Mt. Kenya University's Master of Public Administration program. He has also attended the Kenya School of Government.
Njeru began his work in 1995 as a sales administrator at DT Dobbie before moving on to hawk insurance policies. He worked as an executive for Madison Insurance in Eldoret from 1998 until 2000. He eventually relocated to Meru to work as a branch manager for BlueShield.

Between 2003 until 2007, he was elevated to become the company's regional manager, Rift Valley, before deciding to enter politics.
Zachariah Mwangi has been a Nakuru county sub-county administrator since 2015. He is presently the county's first full cabinet minister. Between 2008 and 2013, Njeru was a nominated councilor in the Nakuru Municipal Council. During this time, he was the chair of the finance and general purpose committees.
Njeru was born in 2010.
