Waihiga Mwaura is an award-winning Citizen TV journalist. He's been in the business for almost ten years and has made a name for himself by never getting involved in any fights.
Early life
Mwaura was born on June 6, 1984, in Kenya. His father, David Mwaure, is a politician and presidential candidate, as well as the founder and leader of the Agano party. His mother's name is Anne Ngibuini Mwaure, and he has two younger brothers and sisters named Ngibuini Mwaura and Lil Gathoni Mwaure. Lil Gathoni Mwaure passed away on April 11th, 2022, at the age of 32.
Mwaura grew up in Nairobi, in the Donholm and Westlands estates, with his family. Mwaura's parents are both Christians who have raised their children in the faith. They are both lawyers who desired that their children follow in their footsteps.
Education
Mwaura had his early education at Rusinga schools in Lavington. He later enrolled in African Nazarene University, where he studied Computer Science and graduated with honors. He was aware, though, that he was uninterested in IT.
Career
Mwaura worked as an intern at an NGO after receiving his degree before being hired as a bank teller. However, he was uninterested in this and left the employment at the age of 25. At the same time, his pastor advised him that he was gifted and should work in the media.
This was back when he was an emcee at their church, but Mwaura didn't take him seriously at the time. After quitting his job as a bank teller, Mwaura met Ephy Hunja, a senior journalist who attended the same church. Ephy assisted him in breaking into the media.
Family
Waihiga Mwaura is married to Joyce Omondi, an award-winning gospel singer and development specialist. The couple has no children and has no plans to have any in the near future.
