Inetimi Timaya Odon (born 15 August 1980), also known as Timaya, is a well-known Nigerian singer and songwriter. He established DM Records Limited.
His solo career began in 2005 with the release of "Dem Mama," which was also included on his debut album, True Story, the following year. Gift and Grace, his second album, was released in 2008.
Meanwhile, his third studio album De Rebirth, released in collaboration with Black Body Entertainment, and its lead single "Plantain Boy" helped him gain more visibility and international prominence.
His work has earned him a number of prestigious awards and nominations, including four The Headies Awards, two AFRIMMA Awards, one Nigeria Music Award, and an NEA Award.
Timaya's Early Life
Born on August 15, 1980, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Inetimi Timaya Odon grew up in Agip Estate, Port Harcourt, as the youngest of fifteen siblings. He hails from Odi, Bayelsa State. His father worked as a banker, and his mother was involved in trading. Timaya's early education took place at the Assemblies of God Nursery and Primary School, while his secondary schooling began at Nkpolu Oroworukwo in Port Harcourt.
He would frequently disregard household rules to attend late-night music events. Before completing his schooling, his mother arranged for him to move to Lagos with his elder brother and sister. After relocating to the city, he enrolled at Ikeja Grammar School in Lagos, eventually obtaining his secondary school certificate.
Timaya later returned to Port Harcourt to study Banking and Finance at the university level. However, his academic performance was subpar, and he dropped out after the first semester. During this period, he joined Eedris Abdulkareem's hip-hop group as a backup vocalist, which led him back to Lagos.
After working with Eedris Abdulkareem for three years, Timaya left the group to focus on his solo career. He started collaborating with emerging artists, and his breakthrough came with the production of his hit song "Dem Mama," which was facilitated by producer Obaksolo.

Timaya's primary education was at the Assemblies of God Nursery and Primary School. He began secondary school at Nkpolu Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt. However, his mother's decision to move him to Lagos before completing secondary school led him to enroll at Ikeja Grammar School in Lagos.
Following secondary school, Timaya returned to Port Harcourt to pursue a degree in Banking and Finance at the university level. Nonetheless, his academic struggles prompted him to drop out after failing his first semester exams.

Following the success of "Dem Mama," Timaya continued working with producer K-Solo, recording more tracks for his debut album, "True Story," released in 2007. In subsequent years, he collaborated with various producers and artists to release albums like "Gift and Grace" in 2008, "De Rebirth" in 2010, and "Upgrade" in 2012. Notable tracks from these albums include "Bum-Bum," "Sexy Ladies," and "Malonogede."
In 2014, he released his fifth studio album, "Epiphany," which included hits like "Bum Bum Remix," "Sanko," and "Ukwu." Timaya's record label, DM Records Limited, nurtured artists like Patoranking and Runtown. He also released an EP titled "Chulo Vibes" in 2019, featuring collaborations with various artists.
Timaya's Personal Life
Timaya is a member of Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel. He is a proud father of three children, residing in his lavish mansion in Lekki, Lagos. He has had relationships with Barbara Nwaokolo, Empress Njamah, and others, resulting in children like Emmanuella Odon, Gracey Odon, and Maya Odon.
His collection of luxury cars includes a Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG, Range Rover Sport 2013, Range Rover Sport 2016, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Lexus SUV 2015, among other valuable assets.
