Sheebah Karungi (born November 11, 1989) is a Ugandan music singer, dancer, and actress who made her acting debut as Shakira in Queen of Katwe. She rose to prominence following the release of her hit track "Ice Cream" after leaving Obsessions, a dance group she joined in 2006. Ice Cream, a five-track EP published in 2014, was a commercial success for her. Sheebah has also twice represented Uganda at Coca-Cola Studios Africa.
Sheebah Karungi was born and raised by a single mother in Kawempe, a district of Kampala, Uganda's capital.
She dropped out of Midland High School, Kawempe, in senior two after finishing her basic education at Kawempe Muslim Primary School. She began dancing for money at the age of 15 after joining a dance group named Stingers, which she left in 2006 to join Obsessions Music Group. She acquired an interest in music while with Obsessions, releasing two songs before leaving the band to pursue a solo career.
In 2010, she released her first official single, "Kunyenyenza," which was produced by Washington and written by Cindy. She later released "Bulikyekola," which featured KS Alpha's vocals, and "Baliwa," which featured Coco Finger. It wasn't until she released "Automatic," a song composed by Sizzaman, that her solo career took off. Upon the success of "Automatic", she paired up again with Sizzaman to record "Ice Cream" to tremendous exposure and positive reviews before she went on to release another smash track, "Twesana".
Ice Cream, a five-track EP with big hits including "Ice Cream" and "Jordan," was released in 2014 as her maiden musical project. The EP got positive feedback and helped her win numerous Best Female Artist music awards.
