Saida Swaleh is a multi-award-winning journalist who has worked for Kenya Television Network (KTN) since April 2011. She developed a lot of her skills while working with Internews in Kenya.
From 2007 to 2010, she received her B.A (Journalism & Media Studies, Broadcast Journalism) from the University of Nairobi.
Saida Swaleh's Work Experience
Saida is most known for her fondness for human interest stories and features. She joined KTN Kenya in 2011.
She and her colleague Angel Katusia won the Gender Reporting Award in 2013. The winning story, "Meat of My Flesh," was about sex work and included interviews with sex workers and drug peddlers in Mombasa, Malindi, Ukunda, and Nairobi.
She was named first runner-up for the Media Council of Kenya's Young Journalist of the Year Awards in 2012.
In June 2013, she created an in-depth program for KTN called "Prisoner of My Skin" on the terrible trafficking in albino body parts. Albino body parts are in high demand, particularly in neighboring Tanzania, where they are thought to possess magical abilities.
Husband of Saida Swaleh
Aside from her glitzy media profession, Swaleh is a devoted wife to Abdul Jaleel Komen. The couple, who have been together since 2013, have a beautiful daughter. Abdul Jaleel Komen works as a researcher for the Kenya Tourist Board (KTB) in Mombasa.
Wedding of Saida Swaleh
Saida and Abdul Jaleel Komen were strangers in 2010, but a chance meeting at a mutual friend's house sparked a connection that resulted in a magnificent beachfront wedding at the Nyali Beach Hotel in Mombasa.
An delighted Saida stated on her official twitter page the next day "Nobody said it would be comfortable, but nothing in life worth having ever is. I thank Allah, as well as our parents and friends, for the light."
