Rosemary Odinga is the second child of ODM party leader Raila Amollo Odinga. She is a skilled farmer and the first and only snail farmer in East Africa. Rosemary, unlike her younger sister Winnie, has shunned politics in order to focus on developing her skills.
Rosemary Odinga Early Years
Rosemary Odinga was born in Nairobi, Kenya on August 13, 1977. Raila Amolo Odinga and Mama Ida Odinga gave birth to her. Her siblings include the late Fidel Odinga, Raila Odinga Junior, and the youngest, Winnie Odinga.
In an earlier interview, she described the difficult upbringing she and her siblings through after her father was jailed by former President Daniel Arap Moi, recalling police raids on their home when she was five.
Rosemary Odinga Education
While there are no specifics on Rosemary's early and elementary school education, she is a well-educated lady with two degrees. She earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from Howard University and an MBA in marketing from the University of Dallas.
Career
Rosemary Odinga is a businesswoman and alternative agricultural advocate. She began her farming business as a hobby in 2007. "Before I started, I had gone to Nigeria where I had the honor of visiting former Nigerian president Olesegun Obasanjo," she explained. He is one of the most successful snail farmers in the area. He was the one who encouraged me to consider farming. I promised to do something when I got home because he was so compelling about the snail farming."
Political Profession
Rosemary Odinga was eyeing the Kibra Parliamentary seat in 2017. She had to put her political goals aside to seek medical attention for two aneurysms, a brain tumor, and a stroke. Rosemary stated in an interview that if God granted her the opportunity, she would return to politics because she would never shy away from leadership.
Rosemary Odinga Sickness
Rosemary Odinga is a tough woman who had to combat her illness, which nearly blinded her. She stated that her illness created uncertainty in her life because she had never seen anyone else go through what she had.
"Sometimes I'd find myself crying, unsure of what to do. I recently discovered I can't drive my car anymore, and I can't make the food I want to. "I felt helpless because I couldn't accomplish things on my own," she explained.
