Rose Gakuo fomrerly worked in the president's office at Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) as the head of public relations and stakeholder engagement.
She was one of the journalists let go by Mediamax Network Limited-owned station K24 TV in June 2020.
Education and background
Gakuo attended Laikipia University and earned a First Class Honours degree in Communication and Media in 2015.
She was an active student politician, having served as President of the Laikipia University Students' Union.
According to The Standard, she was also the first woman to lead a Public University Students' Union in 2013.
At Kenya University Students Organisation, Gakuo deputized Embakasi East MP Babu Owino (then UoN's SONU president) (KUSO).
Gakuo was a finalist in Season 2 of KTN's "The Presenter" program after finishing her education.
She went on to work as a reporter and anchor for the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC). She gave the station a fresh look after netizens had ripped into it for years, claiming that the old cast appeared bored.
Aside from the various on-set interviews, Gakuo reported an incident in Nairobi in which ladies protested against a Nairobi hotel that kicked out a breastfeeding mother.
In 2019, she left KBC for K24. She continued her career as a journalist and anchor at the Mediamax-owned channel.
