Purity Wangui Ngiciri is a Kenyan politician who rose to prominence after abandoning the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, claiming that it had been sold to the highest bidder. Wangui ran alongside Hon. Anne Waiguru and Hon. Charles Kibiru in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial contest in the 2022 general elections.
Education and Experience
She enrolled in the Regional Institute of Business Management in 2011 to pursue a Business Management diploma and, later, a Higher Diploma in Business Management at the same university. Purity Wangui would thereafter pursue her bachelor's degree in commerce at Gretsa University. She is now doing her master's degree in Human Resource Management at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

The Path of her Career
In 1999, she began her career as the Japan Sales Manager at International Relations Expert Tokyo. She will become executive director of Joy Team Tyres and Half Moon Investments the following year. She is also the Executive Director of Ngirici and Sons Ltd, which was established in 2011.

Her political career began in 2017 when she was elected as a Member of Parliament for Kirinyaga to the National Assembly. Her tenure has also seen committee appointments to the Departmental Committee on Finance and Planning and the Public Investments Committee. Purity Wangui is also the president of the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association.

Wangui was defeated in her gubernatorial attempt, finishing second to Anne Waiguru. Despite his defeat, Wangui went on to argue that the election results were skewed. She urged that the Gichugu constituency votes be re-counted. This came just a day after her challenger, Anne Waiguru, accused foul play in the tally.
