Praise Ugbede Adejo, better known as Praiz, was born on March 8, 1984 in Lagos, Nigeria. He is the second of four children and was raised in Kaduna after his father was transferred there on a missionary assignment in 1992.
Praiz is from Kogi State and belongs to the Igala tribe.
He holds a Kaduna Polytechnic National Diploma in Computer Science. Growing up to the sounds of Barry White, he began singing in his local church choir at the age of 12 and never intended to pursue music professionally.
He is a Nigerian R&B songwriter, producer, and singer who rose to prominence after finishing second runner-up on the first season of Project Fame West Africa. He is best known for his hit singles "Rich and Famous," which was released on July 22, 2012 to massive airplay, awards, and nominations, "Sisi," "I Love You," and "Oshey," which feature African music legend, Awilo Logomba, and for lending his vocals to Bez's 2011 single " The later song's video went on to become the first African video to have a world premiere on BET's 106 & Park.
Praiz, known as the "John Legend of Nigerians," sings a mix of soul and R&B and is signed to the X3M Music label, where he released his debut album, "Rich and Famous" in 2014.
He has shared the stage with Cobhams, Wizkid, Seyi Shay, Awilo Longomba, Bez, and M.I Abaga, and has been nominated for awards such as -
His charitable nature shines through in his involvement with organizations such as the Safe Motherhood Foundation and Little Big Souls, which aim to reduce premature maternal mortality and assist women who cannot afford maternal care.
