He is one of, if not the, best comedians in Uganda and, by extension, Africa. Patrick Salvador has a unique storytelling style that has the audience in stitches. He tells his jokes in English, which gives him an advantage over his contemporaries in the region who speak Swahili better. Salvador is also a well-known master of ceremonies, radio host, actor, and father. Here is his journey to the pinnacle of his profession.
Salvador was born on February 14, 1985, in West Nile, Uganda, to Mr. and Mrs. Dawa Lawrence. The comedian was raised in a family of seven children and spent the majority of his childhood in Koboko.
Salvador's educational journey began at Our Lady of Africa Nursery and Primary School. He later transferred to Kiswa Primary School, where he finished his primary education. St Charles Lwanga then admitted him for his Ordinary Level and later for his Advanced Level to Bishop Cypriano Kihangire in Luzira, Kampala.
Patrick later enrolled at Makerere University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication Engineering.
Salvador, the Engineer Who Became a Comedian
Patrick had always wanted to be an engineer since he was a child. However, he faced conflicting loyalty when the majority of his high school friends participated in comedy skits. As a result, he asked to join the School Music, Dance, and Drama Club, where he began practicing comedy.
Salvador was introduced by his wife Daphne Franstock on March 3, 2019. In January 2020, the standup comedian began his wedding proposal with a party at their home in Kakiri, Wakiso district, Uganda.
The couple is the parents of three children, one boy and two girls. Alexander Idringi Dawa is the third and final child.
Patrick Salvador's professional career.
Patrick Idringi got the stage name "Salvador" after making a joke about a girl who forgot to pick up her groceries at a supermarket. When she saw him, she ran up to him, yelling the name Salvador. Salvador appeared in a South American telenovela called Second Chance, which was popular among Ugandans.
In 2009, Multichoice Africa organized a standup comedy competition in Uganda, and Salvador chose to compete, finishing second, a fair position that earned him a job. In 2011, he was hired by Capital FM, 91.3, a Kampala-based radio station. The Overdrive show was in charge of Salvador.
Salvador later left radio to focus on his anticipated comedy shows, where he collaborated with fellow comedians Alex Muhangi, Kenneth Kimuli aka Pablo, Anne Kansiime, and Daniel Omara. International artists such as Konshens, Sean Paul, Alaine, Beenie Man, Busy Signal, Chaka Demus and Pliers, Sean Kingston, Shaggy, and James Ingram performed at his concerts.
Patrick has also appeared on a number of comedy shows both within and outside of East Africa, including Nigeria at the Glo Lafta Fest comedy Tour in 2018, 2017, 2016, and 2015, alongside Basket Mouth and Akinlolu Jerkins at Lord of the Ribs Nigeria.

"I'd like to introduce my charity organization, Dawa Foundation." I've always done charity, but now I'm making it official." Salvador disclosed.
Salvador won the Uganda Entertainment Awards for best standup comedian in 2015. He was nominated for best male comedian as well.
After announcing his weekly comedy show called Just Comedy at Kingdom Hall Kampala in December, 2019, many people assumed that the show was directly meant to compete with his fellow comedian Alex Muhangi's weekly show dubbed Comedy Store.
The two "brothers" used to collaborate while Alex Muhangi was still running his Comedy store at Diners Lounge in Bukoto, but they eventually split up.
Fans assumed that their feud was still ongoing until Alex Muhangi attended one of Salvador's shows at Kingdom Hall Kampala and received VIP treatment along with the other three people who escorted him.
