Mejja's Biography in Summary

Mejja a.k.a mtoto wa khadija a.k.a Okonkwo is  a genge artist hailing from Nyeri.Mejja is a simple guy who grew up in the ghetto and appreciates his humble beginings and that is one of the reasons he uplifts the ghetto.His journey is a very humbleone.In his early life after completing his Secondary education,he sold groundnuts for a living.The business failed then he started hanging posters as a hustle.He is the King of collabo having made collabos with many artists.He has worked with Jua Kali,Ethics,Femi one,Trio Mio,Ochungulo family,Otile Brown,Willis Raburu,Bahati among others.It is to be noted that Mejja does all his collabo’s for free.Airtel which was in the time Celtel  was in search of talent  and he was the runners up in the Central Province and came to Nairobi for the finals which was the first time to enter Nairobi and that is when he met Clemmo.His first song was ‘kwani jana kuliendaje’.

Mejja was then signed into Calif records where he made hits likeHe has a habit of having a tumbler with a drink.What is in the tumbler is mysterious but he is always with his tumbler.Mejja carries his own drink for safety purposes.In  2014 Madtraxx, Kora and Mejja formed a group ‘The Kansol’ and made great hits like Nyongwa,Kufa juu,moto wa kuotea mbali,tunakubali,positions.Athough the group has been inactive for the past 8 months,he has been solo projects and collaborations.His icons are Eminem and Snoop Dogg.He was inspired by Eminem to change voice when changing the character in his songs.

Mejja who is currently 40 years old became well-known for his own Genge style of music, which combines hip hop, dancehall, and Kenyan vernacular. However, his breakthrough came with the release of his immediate hit "Jana Kuliendaje," for which he received an award. Mejia continues to release hit singles, making him the most popular Genge artist and influential artist in Kenya, with a sizable fan base both locally and globally.

Mejja introduced new lover a year after split with wife

Kenyan Genge artist Major Nemeye Khadija, better known by his stage name Mejja, has moved on in less than a year after his wife abandoned him.

Taking to social media to showcase his new bae, the Kansoul group member posted a photo of his 'Ghetto Queen' on his Instagram profile, along with a lengthy humorous remark.


Beauty and the beast. Nikipeleka supa pango kununua digital kwa vaite, alipenda mjeshi hivo hivo. Ghetto lifestyle, my Ghetto Queen, watu wa comments najua mtaanza tale ya mali ya umma huyu ni private property, lol. Anyway, NawaPenda Wagenge, God bless," he wrote.

As expected, Mejja's ecstatic admirers flooded the Instagram comments area with congratulations for the new pair.

Separate from wife.

In 2018, Mejja revealed that his wife had packed her belongings and fled with their child without explanation.

In an interview with Radio Jambo, the Bablas musician said that he and his wife had been together for over five years and had not argued until she decided to leave. He thought something was wrong after receiving an unexpected text message from her on that fateful day.

Considering suicide

As a result, Mejja became depressed and considered suicide to stop his devastation, which he concealed to himself.
"I cannot deny that you have considered suicide. You feel suicide because you see other people's pleasant lives and believe that something is wrong with yours. It crossed my mind, but I had a friend who would come over and we'd hang out, and when the suicidal thoughts came up, we'd start talking about things like football, so he kept me occupied and distracted. However, the trouble occurred at night because negative ideas would seep in when you were alone. "I rarely slept at night," he explained.
Mejja appears to be doing well for himself, based on his passion, online charisma, and, of course, his new bae. He encourages young people to express their troubles with loved ones in order to alleviate their anguish and prevent suicide and negative thoughts.
