Ken began his career as a cab driver after graduating in 2007. However, when K24 approached him about a video he filmed during the post-election violence, his life was turned upside down. Ken had borrowed his brother's camera to get a better look at the current scenario in Kibera. Because K24 was unable to find scenes depicting the condition in Kibera, they recruited Ken Mijungu.

Ken Mijungu's career as a news anchor began immediately, and he worked for K24 TV for three years and nine months. Ken worked at K24 as a business talk brand anchor, talk show presenter, and news desk reporter.

Ken left K24 TV in December 2012 to work as a correspondent for CCTV Africa, where he spent a year and three months before leaving. With seven years, he served as a senior correspondent for Nation Media Group.

Ken worked for NTV and appeared on the show Sidebar, where he interviewed Kenya's Vice President, William Ruto. Kenyans have praised and criticized the interview in equal measure. Ken's commitment earned him a Special Commendation at the 2011 CNN African Journalist Awards.
