Junet Mohamed is a Kenyan politician who now represents Suna East in Migori County in Parliament.
He is also the National Assembly Minority Leader and the first Kenyan Somali to be elected to the Nyanza region's parliamentary seat. He belongs to the ODM political party.
Junet was born on October 25, 1977, to the family of Sheikh Nuh Mohammed, a Mandera County native who moved to Migori to start a company.
Mohamed began his studies at Migori Primary School before transferring to Lenana School for his secondary education.
He eventually enrolled at the University of Nairobi and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
He was previously the Mayor of Migori, having been elected in 2003. His national political career began in 2013, when he was elected on an ODM party platform as the Member of Parliament for Suna East.
He was the first Kenyan Somali to be elected in the Nyanza region because he grew up there and had numerous contacts and acquaintances there.
In the August 2017 elections, he was re-elected. He then became the National Assembly's minority leader and is close to the ODM boss Raila Odinga.
He is recently rumoured to have mishandled Azimio la Umoja elections cash and is untouchable by Raila since he is dating his daughter in-law to Fidel Odinga, Lwam Bekele.
