Joseph Mwenda, also known as DJ Joe Mfalme, will now be a state witness in the murder trial of Kabete Police Detective Felix Kelian Kintosi.
This comes after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) issued a letter on April 5, 2024, requesting that Mfalme and others testify in the ongoing legal proceedings.
The first respondent in the case, Allan Ochieng, alias Hype Ballo, has been charged with murder.
Ballo is scheduled to appear in Kiambu Law Courts, where he will be charged with murdering the officer.
The family of the late DCI cop expresses concern over the direction of the case.
However, amidst legal proceedings, the deceased officer's family and friends expressed skepticism about pursuing justice.
Following the court session, Jackline, a member of Kelian's family, lamented the perceived lack of justice as six of the seven suspects were released.
She emphasized the family's determination to seek accountability for Kelian's death.
"We have here to follow this matter and we have seen that we are not likely to get justice because when the case is just beginning and we hear that six of the sevens suspects have been freed," Jackline went on to say.
Jackline also shed light on the circumstances surrounding Kelian's death, emphasising that they were able to communicate details of the incident before passing away.
She emphasized that several people were involved in the attack on Kelian and urged authorities to hold all responsible parties accountable.
"It is important for people to understand that we spoke with our relatives before he died; he did not die immediately after being beaten up.
"He was beaten up, arrested by police, spent timein cell and released then went to hospital, we know he was beaten by more than one person," she said.
In her plea for justice, Jackline urged the appropriate authorities to thoroughly investigate the case and bring all those responsible to justice.
