Staying on top of your game is no small feat, especially in the field of competitive journalism. Before salute, Hussein Mohamed is one of the best Kenyan journalists ever produced. The way he does interviews is on another level. He interviewed some of the best politicians in the country and let them sweat. At one point, Moses Kuria angrily walked out of an interview after Hussein insisted on airing a music video in which he incited the youth.
The respected journalist knows exactly how to ask questions in the most tactical way possible. In fact, anyone who interviewed Kenyan President William Ruto - who was so adept at answering and dodging certain questions - would always remember how good Hussein Mohamed was at knocking out the DP and other politicians. So who is Hussein Mohammed?

In 2014, he married Malyun Mohammed in a ceremony “ Traditional religion is held inside Masjid Nur at South C, Nairobi.

In 2019, he graduated with a Master's degree in Diplomacy and International Studies from the University of Nairobi.
Hussein Mohammed Career
After graduating from college, he found a job and sent applications to every media house he knew. While waiting for a job, he bought a DSLR and started organizing events like funerals, weddings, and college events. He then had an interview with Kenya Television Network (KTN) and this was the start of his career in the media industry.
Hussein joined Citizen TV in 2008 as a program and news anchor and has worked for the station for a decade. His prowess was on display and he continues to make news with the likes of Janet Mbugua. In his role at Citizen, he read the news, hosted the Newsnight newsletter and interviewed leading Kenyan businessmen and politicians. In 2016, he interviewed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday Live. He also hosts several news shows for the station, including Big Question and PM Live.
In October 2019, he announced his departure from Royal Media Services. He said it was a nice ride and thanked the viewers for their support and also thanked SK Macharia and everyone who guided him at the station.

“I appreciate the support and guidance of RMS President S.K. Macharia and Vice President Gathoni Macharia, CEO Wachira Waruru, management, cabinet secretary Farida Karoney who was our boss here a while ago,” he said.
When he stepped out of the media house, he was met with praise from the people of Kenya, from ODM leader Raila Odinga to President William Ruto.
Hussein said he is taking a break from the media to take care of other projects.
In 2020, it was reported that he became a consultant and is part of a new project funded by the US government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Former KTN reporter Yusuf Ibrahim said he and Mohamed have joined the project, Resilience Learning Activity (RLA), as consultants individually.
RLA aims to empower everyone at the county level, from the county communications director to future district reporters.

In 2018, he won Male Media Personality of the Year at the Somali Glamor Awards.
In 2019, he was awarded the Moran of the Burning Spear by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
