Gabriel Kagundu, aka Gabu, was born and reared in Nairobi, Kenya.
He had no trouble creating his musical identity because he understood he would be a part of Kenya's musical evolution. Gabu, who works both as a solo artist and as a member of the band P-Unit, falls squarely into the latter category, as evidenced by his new singles Eish and Dirunk, which are captivating and moving debuts that herald the arrival of music that one can become acquainted with while also forging its own path in Genge music. In 2004, he collaborated with Calif Records on his debut single "Paulina," which served as the soundtrack for the inaugural episode of Dance Mania.
P-music UNIT's is classified as Genge, which is Swahili for Mass. The ensemble speaks to and entertains the public, which explains their remarkable success. Their debut album, 'Wagenge Hao,' has been dubbed the greatest record ever released by a Kenyan group. The album's big hit single 'Kare' continues to dominate East African charts, dominating music charts across Africa and receiving considerable rotation on music networks such as MTV Base. P-UNIT has been invited to perform on international stages alongside Sean Kingston, P-Square, Elephant Man, Rick Ross, and others in nations such as Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
Gabu is noted for his sharp fashion sense and unique attitude, which has been modelled on the runway by fashion designers such as Blackbird Jeans (zeddy - alexander nash). Gabu also teaches young musical talent and believes in giving back to society. He is the Cancer Ambassador for the Meru Hospice and supports various programs in Nairobi, where he grew up.
