Collins Injera Career

Injera began playing rugby while a student at Vihiga High School in Vihiga. After graduating in 2005, he joined the military team Ulinzi RFC, which competed in the Kenya Cup league. After the team was disbanded, he transferred to Mwamba RFC, a Nairobi-based team where he plays as a wing.

Injera, who is now a key member of Kenya's Sevens squad, made his debut with the team at the 2006 Dubai Sevens and also competed in the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens, where Kenya reached the semifinals. With 42 tries, he became the leading try scorer in the 2008-09 IRB Sevens World Series season. He also scored 210 points, placing second in the individual points table behind England's Ben Gollings.

Injera has also played for Kenya's national rugby union team (15s) at his usual position of left wing (number 11), most recently in the 2011 World Cup Qualifiers.

He was recalled to the Kenyan squad for the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town in 2022. In January 2023, he announced his retirement from rugby.
