Chrystal Kizito is the owner of Botanique Naturelle, a wellness company. This is a company that sells skin, hair, and wellness products to customers. The company grew from a Sh1,000 investment to a well-known brand among customers.
She was the first child in a family of four, three girls and a boy. She attended Riverbank Primary School before transferring to Kenyatta University Primary School, where she grew up in a loving family in Kahawa Barracks. She then enrolled at Lirhanda Girls High School in Kakamega before pursuing a career in broadcast journalism.
She struggled to find work as a journalist after graduation. As a result, she used to sell spoons from Sarit Center to the Bus Station. She would charge a commission of Ksh10 for each spoon sold. While the job was difficult, it taught her strength.
She later worked as a waitress and washed dishes and cleaned toilets. Her boss opened a beauty shop and appointed her manager two years into the job. She received extensive training before beginning her new job.
In 2017, she purchased 1 kilogram of West African Shear butter, processed it, and sold it for Sh2,300. This convinced her that it was a profitable venture. She named one of her drugs Natukunda.
Because she was inconsistent, her development was difficult. She needed to gain people's trust as a beginner. There was also the fact that her shop was online, and most customers had difficulty trusting the brand. She also realized that rather than supporting local brands, most Kenyans preferred to buy from international sellers, making it difficult for homegrown businesses to thrive. It took her three years to get the business back on track.
Her previous experience as a store manager for a beauty brand was extremely beneficial. This provided her with a wealth of information about running a business and managing sales.
She revealed in a 2021 interview with Nation that she went from processing one kilogram to fifty. She also stated that one of her biggest mistakes in the beginning was not separating the business and personal finances. As a result, she was left with no options.
She was also prone to impulsive purchases because she kept money in her account. To address this issue, she obtained a till number and linked it to her bank account. This made it simple for her not only to pay employees but also to keep track of her finances.
Pulse Awards nominated her for Business Influencer of the Year 2021. Despite the fact that she did not win, the nomination demonstrated that she was on the right track.
