School Approved by Kabete

When the activist was 11, he was taken to an approved school. Senior Magistrate Olouch found him guilty of 'vagrancy' and sentenced him to 7 years in an approved school until he reached 18. Boniface Mwangi stated that he went to court "expecting to be freed."

Family

Wakiuruwa Mahinge, his mother, died when he was 17 years old. Hellen Njeri Mwangi is his wife. Boniface married his partner when he was 23 years old. She collaborates with him on his projects. Simphiwe, Sifa, and Mboya are their three children.

Career

Boniface went on to become an accomplished photojournalist. He rose to prominence in photojournalism after winning his first prize in 2005. Mwangi's work earned him the CNN Africa Photojournalist awards in 2008 and 2010.

Boniface Mwangi has also entered politics. In the 2017 Kenya general elections, he ran for the Starehe constituency Member of Parliament seat on behalf of his newly founded party, Ukweli. He was defeated by Charles Njagua Kanyi.

Bombing

His home in Lukenya was bombed, and the activist blamed former Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua. According to Boniface Mwangi, the Governor was aware that he was building in that location, which is why he suspects his involvement in the sad incident that occurred on October 20th. The activist has been posting on social media about Juliani's relationship with Mutua's ex-wife Lillian Ng'ang'a, as well as some not-so-subtle phrases.
