Barnaba Classic, formerly known as Elias Barnabas, was born and raised in the early 1990s in Moshi-Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. He was born into a musical family, with his mother, Maria A. Loice, a choir mistress, and his father, Barnaba E, a pastor and guitarist.
Barnaba is the youngest of three siblings. Barnaba developed an interest in music at a young age as a result of growing up in a church with parents who loved music. He gave performances in the streets, churches, and schools.

Barnaba's Musical Profession

 Barnaba began his musical career in early 2000 by receiving vocal training in churches, as previously stated. Later, when he was 17, one of his friends connected him with Tanzania House of Talent to try his luck in Hip Hop music, but his interests changed after he was given a guitar.

He enrolled in music school in 2007 and released his first single, 'Baby I Love You,' the following year. A few months later, he released 'Njia panda,' which featured fellow star Pipi.  'Njia Panda' introduced him to Tanzanian music and catapulted him to stardom.

He went on to release several songs, and in less than 5 years he had become a household name in the Tanzanian music industry, receiving numerous accolades.

Barnaba has received numerous awards for his outstanding music over the years. However, some of his most notable awards and recognition include the Kilimanjaro Tanzania Music Awards (KTMA) in the Zouk/Rhumba category in 2011.  In 2012, he was named best male vocalist, and in 2013, he was named best musician.
