Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko is a Nigerian afrobeats singer and songwriter better known as Adekunle Gold and AG Baby. He rose to prominence in 2015 after the release of his hit single "Sade," which was inspired by British boy band One Direction's hit song "Story Of My Life." It was initially released as a cover of the song before being released as Olamide's first official single via ybnl Nation. The label released his debut studio album "Gold" the same year. On the Billboard World Albums chart, it debuted at number seven. The albums was preceded by the singles "Orente" and "Pick Up."

On July 15, 2022, following the release of his new song "5 Star," Gold revealed his childhood battle with sickle cell disease. He stated that it was the inspiration for the recently released song.
