Andrew Kabiru Karuku (born January 8, 1978), better known as Abbas Kubaff, is a Kenyan hip hop musician who grew up in Nairobi's Kariobangi South neighborhood. Abbas has shaped and pioneered rap music in East Africa since 1995, first as a member of the rap group K-South and later as a solo performer. Abbas, his brother KC, and a neighborhood buddy Bamboo founded the band K-South. After KC went missing and Bamboo moved to the United States, the group disbanded in 2005. As a solo musician Abbas is notable for hit songs such as "Chapaa" and "Tokelezea". In 2008, he received a Chaguo La Teeniez Award, and in 2011, he received a Golden Mic Award. Kubaff released his debut album Angabanga in 2006.
