Kenyan artist Kevin Bahati and his wife Diana Marua have launched a reality TV show called 'The Bahati Empire'. The new reality TV show focuses on Bahati and his family. The reality show's official release date is Friday, June 7, on Netflix.
The Bahati family organized a major launch ceremony on June 6 at the Westwood Hotel in Nairobi. Several Kenyan celebrities from the entertainment industry attended the event.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua attended the celebration, together with Lang'ata Mp Phelix Odiwuor (Jalang'o) and nominated Senator Karen Nyamu.
Many well-known musicians, actors, and actresses were also there.
Bahati and his wife Diana were the first Kenyan pair to air their reality show on the streaming site.
The Bahati's Empire debut comes after the couple sent a series of mysterious statements on social media.
They later informed fans about the reality TV show and published the trailer, which features The Murayas, Karen Nyamu, Jalang'o, and Rev Lucy Natasha, among others.
Several well-known figures from the entertainment sector attended the launch event, dressed to the nines. The show will air on Netflix on Friday, June 7, 2024.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who made a surprise appearance, expressed his thoughts and congratulated the Bahati family on their significant success.
In his speech, Deputy President Gachagua praised the Bahati family and the creative community as a whole.
He said, "I was told about it last night... I was in a village. And when I learned about this event, I returned to be with our young people and artists. To inform them that Kenya adores you. "You have no idea what you are doing to our souls."
Gachagua congratulated Bahati for rising from a disadvantaged childhood to become a worldwide superstar. "Our government, led by President William Ruto, is extremely proud of this accomplishment. "From a deprived childhood, your tenacity, focus, and hard work have produced an international star in the creative industry," he stated.
He said, "In just a decade since your beginning in music, your growth has been incredible... For this, my friend Kevo, you are a source of inspiration for hundreds of aspiring and established artists across Kenya, East Africa, and the African continent. You are creating a portal to showcase Kenyan creativity to an audience of over 222 million members in 190 countries worldwide. This show brings Kenyan material to the world."
The Deputy President emphasized the government's efforts to support the growth of the creative industry through the Talanta Hela program.
He pushed other artists to follow in Bahati's footsteps and take the global stage. "While Diana and Bahati have pioneered this reality show, we look forward to more artists conquering the globe for Kenya to have a bite of the multibillion-dollar creative industry," he stated.
Gachagua also provided advice to Bahati and other artists. "As you face the world, our administration wishes you the best. Please remember, when you generate material and make people happy, that we have societal ideals. We are family people, and I am glad that most of you have families.
