Richard Kasendwa, also known as Ziza Bafana, is a well-known Ugandan musician, songwriter, and guitarist. He's a fantastic performer and raga dancehall sensation known for enthralling audiences.
Ziza Bafana is a meaningful name. Ziza is a biblical name for Shiphi's son, whereas in Rwanda, Ziza refers to someone who can advise the president. And the name Bafana comes from the South African football club Bafana Bafana.
While in South Africa for a musical trip in 2012, he went out with a South African female friend, and when he returned, his friends nicknamed him Bafana.
Ziza Bafana is a unique dancehall artist who attempts to create a Jamaican accent in his music. He's simply unique, and his music is mostly in Luganda and dancehall at its best.
Early Childhood and Education
Ziza Bafana was born in 1988 in Bukakata town road, Luvule Village, Masaka District to Ronald Sseruwoza and Noerina Nansikombi, both of whom died in 2013. After his parents died, he left the village for Kampala when he was nine years old.
Ziza Bafana went to Bulenge Primary School and was an enthusiastic member of the school music club as well as a drummer. Before joining Kyebando P/S, his drumming talent earned him a five-year scholarship at the school.
Ziza Bafana was then enrolled in St. Stephen's Kyebando Secondary School for his secondary education. However, he stopped studying in senior three because there was no one to pay his school fees.
So, after his parents died, Bafana moved to Kampala to live with his Aunt.
Ziza Bafana was a notorious child when he was younger.
He recalls causing havoc in the village with his loud bicycle. Bafana first came to Kampala when his school, Bulenge P/S, sent him to buy a ball for the school, and he has been looking forward to relocating there ever since.
So, after his parents died, he moved to Kampala to live with his paternal aunt.
Working Experience
Before entering the music industry, Ziza Bafana worked in the garage his Aunt started for him, repairing motorcycles. Later, he joined his uncle in Masaka City, where he learned how to repair automobiles.
He later relocated to Kampala and did the same after dropping out of school.
Ziza Bafana's musical career began in church; he was a church boy who, in addition to being a guitarist, sang in the church choir.
He began to compose and write songs. He began by writing a song for Nkoye Obufumbo Cindy, and his first song was Abakazi Babatulugunya.
Bafana's biggest hit, Jayo Ntekeyo, catapulted him to fame, but the government, according to Bafana, failed to prioritize music in Uganda.
Music Career
Ziza Bafana began professionally singing in 2011 and has never looked back with his exceptional dancehall music genre. In Jamaican Patois, he raps incomprehensible lyrics.
Ziza Bafana was a member of the now-defunct Back 2 Life group with Yiya Moze before going solo. Before Back 2 Life, he was a solo musician.
He began singing in 2008, with 'Ayamba,' a gospel song praising God for His Grace, produced by Samuel Jehu.
The two have a number of musical works, and according to Zizia Bafana, their split was deserved because Yiya Mozy wasn't serious and was a selfish person.
After a while, his close friend Mark Africa Kirwana advised him to pursue secular music because his voice is ideal for it.
