Yvonne Adhiambo Owour is a Kenyan writer, born in Nairobi Kenya, in the year 1968. She is known for her critically acclaimed novel Dust.

Yvonne Adhiambo Owour Career Journey.

From studying English to Tv/Video development and creative writing, Yvonne worked as a screenwriter and executive director, for the Zanzibar International Film Festival, from years 2003 to 2005.

Her short story, Weight of Whispers, got huge recognition after its release, which narrated an aristocratic Rwandan refugee in Kenya. The story was originally published in Kwani? the Kenyan literary magazine, and appeared in numerous publications worldwide thereafter. Meanwhile, her story The Knife Grinder's Tale was released as a short film, under the same title in 2007.

She participated in Chinua Achebe Centre's 'pilgrimages' project, alongside fellow author Binyavanga Wainaina, traveled to Kinshasa, in 2010, and intends to produce a book about her experiences during the project.

In 2014, she published a novel, Dust, that portrayed the violent history of Kenya, in the second half of the 20th century. In 2019, her second novel, The Dragonfly Sea, was published. Some of her amazing works include; Trail of Terremoto, The States of Tides, These Fragments, among others.

She has received awards under her name including, the Woman of the year, in the Arts, Heritage category, for her contributions to the arts in Kenya, in 2004. The Caine Prize, for Weight of Whispers, Kenya's Pre-eminent Literary Prize in the Jomo Kenyatta Prize for Literature, and got shortlisted for her novel Dust, at the Folio Prize in 2015.
