Many Kenyans are familiar with the name Wilbroda. Citizen TV viewers used to rush home every Thursday at 7.30 p.m. to see "Papa Shirandula." Wilbroda was noisy, brassy, and ecstatic about her 'wealthy' husband. She was Shirandula's third wife, a controversial watchman who never revealed his vocation to his family. He was the boss of a large corporation, according to her knowledge. So, who exactly is Wilbroda? What is her real name, and what does she do when she's not on screen?
she still friends with Awinja despite a few years since their show, Papa Shirandula ended.
Wilbroda Family
Jacqueline Nyaminde is the first child in her family and grew up in Nairobi West. Her father died a few years ago, but her mother is still alive. She has five sisters and one brother.
Wilbroda Education
She attended Uhuru Gardens Primary School before joining Koru Girls High School. Later, she did a short course in film production before joining the National Theatre.
Wilbroda Career
She began her career in the Kenya National Theatre, like many other Kenyan performers, nearly 16 years ago. They toured the country, performing set books in various locations.
She later joined Safe Ghetto, a non-governmental group that educated slum dwellers about HIV/AIDS. This laid the groundwork for her character in Papa Shirandula.
Mr. Bukeke (Papa Shirandula) once handed someone a script and requested them to give it to Jacky. After reading the script, she was reminded of her grandma. The grandmother was often grumbling about something or other, and despite the fact that she could barely speak English, she insisted on speaking her own mangled version of the language. Jacqueline agreed to play the part, and thus Kenyans ended up on television.
Wilbroda Personal Life
People sometimes have difficulty distinguishing between actresses on film and in real life, and Jacqueline is no exception. Indeed, many people on the street call her Wilbroda. In a few interviews, the former Papa Shirandula actor has stated that when people see her, they laugh first before greeting her.
Off-screen, she is an exquisite, well-spoken woman with one son. When her son was eight months old, she traveled to Mombasa and received an anonymous phone informing her that her nanny was really breastfeeding her child. This compelled her to return immediately, and upon more investigation, she discovered that the nanny was also HIV positive.
Wilbroda Marriage
According to Joyce Gituro in a 2020 interview, her marriage was a turbulent affair interrupted by heated disagreements. She was nine months pregnant and ready to marry when the romance ended. Nyaminde revealed how her husband abruptly urged her to collect her belongings and leave the house without their child.
It took Papa Shirandula's intervention to calm the husband down and give the radio host time to look for her own apartment.
