Douglas Jack Agu (born August 19, 1989) is a musician who goes by the stage name Runtown.

He is a well-known Nigerian producer, songwriter, and Afrobeats vocalist who is 37.

He quickly rose to prominence in the music industry after releasing his debut single, Gallardo, with Davido.

As a follow-up to the single, Runtown released his debut album, Ghetto University, which included the tracks For You and Crazy Over You.

Early Years

Mr. and Mrs. Agu's family gave birth to Runtown on August 19, 1989. He is an Igbo boy from Enugu state. He spent his early years on Earth at his parents' house. However, after his father died, he moved to the capital city of Abuja with his mother.  

His mother, Mrs. Agu, worked for the Ministry of Health.

Runtown briefly lived in Abuja before returning to Lagos when his mother was relocated. He finished his primary education in Lagos. He and his mother had a comfortable life on Lagos's mainland.

He graduated with honors from a prestigious private secondary school in Lagos. Following that, he studied at a prestigious institution of higher learning in Southern Nigeria.

Runtown realized at a young age that music was his career and worked hard to advance in it.

Career

Gallardo, Runtown's first hit single, catapulted him into the public eye. 

The song's vocals were contributed by superstar musician Davido, who helped Runtown land a record deal with Eric Manny Entertainment as well as other performing opportunities.

This was so popular that it won the Collaboration Of The Year award at the 2014 Nigerian Entertainment Awards. After months of hard work in the studio, he released his debut album, Ghetto University, in 2015.

Runtown was the talk of the town at the end of 2016 and the start of 2017. This was due to the success of his song Crazy Over You, which was released on November 4th, 2016.

The talented singer has informed his fans that a new album will be released soon. Soundgod Reloaded is the title of the album. 

Kini Problem, one of the album's songs, was released in September 2020. Another song he released in 2020 is Tradition.

Private Life

Runtown turned 33 years old on August 19. He owns properties in both Nigeria and the United States, where he also has nice homes and expensive cars.

Runtown previously had a long-term relationship with South Sudanese model Adut Akech. The couple, however, divorced in July 2021 due to irreconcilable differences.

Runtown is not only a musician, but also an investor in several Nigerian start-ups. This allows him to earn enough money to support his extravagant lifestyle.
