Activist Okiya Omtatah as has usually referred to the most decorated activist in Kenya is now a senator of Busia county following the general elections of 2022 that he emerged victorious.
He is a human right activist and politician by profession eve though he is not an advocate.
Family. Okiya Omtatah has four elder sisters and he is the only boy in his family. he grew up in Teso South.
He comes from Busia County and he is the only boy in his family having four sisters. He grew up in Teso South and was baptized in Anglican church.
As a senator, his activism role might reduce if not die completely. He's been at the center of various court cases challenging usually most of government decisions. Every time the government announces a decision or directive, Okiya Omtatah remains as the voice of reason as he finds any illegality and fils a petition at relevant courts the following day.
Between 2017 to 2021, Okiya Omtatah filed more petitions that the opposition leader Raila Odinga who was in bed with the government, Uhuru Kenyatta.
The number of petitions Okiya Omtatah files demands the questions of where does he get the money he uses in the court cases.
According to he vibrant new senator, he gets his funding from the well wishers usually from outside the country. Some of the funds come from the NGOs of good governance and more.
Okiya Omtata who has been a public defender, activist and has seen several cases against the government go his way has expressed interest in running for the top seat. Over the past several months he has received massive support by the Gen Z who has been provoking him to make an attempt at the top seat. Well, he has assembled a top team to advise and make arrangements for his campaign towards becoming becoming the president of Kenya in 2027 general elections.
What remains to be seen is if he will be working with another Gen Z's darling Matiangi and the likes.
