Francis Mwangi wa Iria is the first and current Governor of Kenya's Murang'a County. He was also elected as the current vice chairman of Kenya's Council of Governors in January 2019. He was elected on March 4, 2013, and was re-elected in August 2017 for a second term. "Hapa kazi tu" (translated from the native kikuyu language, nu wira tu) is his famous campaign slogan. He is the first black governor in Muranga County. He was elected governor of Kenya in 2013 on the National Alliance ticket. Several scandals involving the politician have surfaced, ranging from assault to corruption.

Wa Iria attended Kiboi Primary School before moving on to Wethaga Boys High School. He is also a Moi University graduate who studied at the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply in the United Kingdom.

Wa Iria was the Managing Director of New Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) before entering politics. He has also worked as the National Sales Manager of Kenya Breweries Ltd, the Managing Director of Ngano Feeds Ltd, the CEO of Freshco Seeds, and the General Manager of the Commercial Division of the Aga Khan Development Network's Industrial Promotion Services.
