Mimi Mars, born Marianne Namshali Mdee, is a Tanzanian singer-songwriter. She was born on June 21, 1992, in Paris, France, and is the younger sister of Tanzanian pop singer Vanessa Mdee and KTN anchor and Gospel singer Nancy Hebron. Her musical styles range from Bongo Flava to R&B to Pop. Mimi is also an actress, MC, YouTuber, and television host.
She grew up in Arusha, Tanzania, and went to Arusha Modern School and St. Catherine's Mountain View in Nairobi, Kenya. She also has a law degree from Kampala University in Dar es Salaam and a tourism management diploma from Nilai University in Malaysia.
Born into a musical family, she and her siblings developed a love of music as children and performed at various family gatherings.
''Beautiful Jesus,'' a song written by the three, was released in 2018.
However, she made her musical debut on February 22, 2017, with the release of her first single, ''Shuga,'' which quickly climbed to the top of the East African charts. Her music has dominated the East African charts with songs such as "Niguse," "One Night" with artist Kagwe Mungai, "Ringtone," "Mua," "Leave me," and "Younger" with Second Nikki. Other hits include "Kodoo," "I Don't Wish," "Papara," "Dedee," and "Down," for which she proposed collaborating with Quick Rocka.
Mimi released her debut song project 'The Road' in late 2018, which was later promoted in 2019 during her visit to Kenya.
