Michelle Botes (born October 12, 1962 in Cape Town) is a South African award-winning actress, language teacher, and aromatherapist. It's not an easy job to put on other people's personalities, but Michelle makes it look so simple.
She is not a newcomer to the film industry and rose to prominence after being cast as Cherel de Villiers-Haines in Isidingo. Michelle played the villainous character for nine years (9) beginning in 1998 and ending in 2007.
She returned to the SABC3 show after three (3) years in 2010 and again in 2019. Without a doubt, the actress is one of the show's longest-serving actors.
The actress has over ten years of acting experience, so it's no surprise she's so good on television. Her impressive acting abilities have earned her fame, and she is now a household name in the entertainment industry.
She enrolled at Stellenbosch University after completing her matriculation. She attended the school to pursue a Performer's Diploma in Speech and Drama (Bilingual).
She also holds a Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Town (UCT). Michelle used Library Tours to present literature during her first job, Touring the Cape. She later played Princess in the Afrikaans show Eagles.
She was cast in the popular South African drama series Isidingo in 1998. She was on the show for nine years, until 2007.
Michelle was actually married to Ian Roberts. She married her man when she was twenty-seven years old. The couple met while she was working on the set of Eagles. Their marriage did not have a "till death do us part" ending; in 1999, the couple called it quits.
Michelle's marriage lasted eleven years, and she has two (2) children, one daughter and one son. Michelle and her ex-husband Ian remain friends even after their marriage ended.
Michelle was in a romantic relationship with fellow Isidingo actor Chris Beasley (Len Cooper). Their relationship lasted less than a year, according to Youth Village. They called it quits after irreconcilable differences.
She is a well-known South African actress, and her role as the villainous Cherel de Villiers-Haines catapulted her to fame. She starred in Isidingo (1998-2007, 2010).
Beginning in 2007, she starred in Binneland Sub Judice for three (3) years. Michelle played Ingrid Jordaan on the M-Net Afrikaans-language soapie and left in 2010.
She was recognized and placed in the top ten on television for the newspaper Star's Top-hundred in 2002. She was named the most stylish South African celebrity three years later, in 2005. JFPI Corporation, Elle magazine, and the Sunday Times newspaper all named Michelle.
Nonetheless, she received the Duku Duku Awards four times in a row in 2005. She is nominated for several awards, including Best Onscreen Villain.
G-sport named her Woman of the Month in the following year, 2006. The Best Actress in Isidingo won the nineteenth annual Avanti Awards.
She also won Best TV Couple in Isidingo with Robert Whitehead, who played Barkes Haines. She has won the Crystal Award for Best Actress three times in a row.
