Mary Moraa is a World and Commonwealth Championships medalist in the 800m for Kenya. She took bronze in the 800m at the recent World Championships in Eugene, Oregon, USA.
Moraa followed up her bronze medal at the IAAF World Championships with a gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, UK.
She joins a growing list of Kenyan athletes who are reshaping the country's sporting landscape.
Mary made her international debut at the 2019 World Athletics Championships, where she competed in the mixed 4 400m relay. She also competed in the women's 4 400m relay at the 2019 African Games in Rabat, Morocco, that same year.
Moraa qualified to represent Kenya at the 2020 Summer Olympics in June 2021.
Moraa won the bronze medal in the 800m at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, in July 2022.
She won gold in the 800m at the 2022 Commonwealth Games after storming past World Silver medalist Keely Hodgkinson of Eugene. Moraa took first place with a time of 1:57:07.
Following her victory, Kenya reclaimed a title it had lost to South Africa's Caster Semenya in 2018 on the Gold Coast.
Moraa has one World U18 Championships silver medal, one African U20 championship, two Diamond League meetings, and one National championship.
In June 2021, she won the Sollentuna GP, Sollentunavallen, Sollentuna in Sweden.
