Lulu's age is not yet public knowledge. She was born and reared in Mombasa County, just like her spouse Rashid Abdalla. Lulu grew up in Mombasa in a family of three girls. She is of Kikuyu and Seychelles descent; both her mother, Mariam Abu, and father had Kikuyu and Seychelles ancestors.
Lulu's mother died in 2007, the same year she met Rashid, her current husband, on Radio Salaam. Her mother bequeathed her a real estate business, which she manages as the first born in her family.

Lulu received her high school education at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa. She received her training as a cabin crew member, hostess, human resource manager, and ticketing officer at Salrene Travel Operations College.
Lulu later worked as a radio broadcaster for Radio Salaam in Mombasa. As a result of realizing her talent and ability, she returned to college to study Mass Communication and Journalism.

In 2008, Lulu got a job as a news presenter at Radio Salaam. Through a KTN cameraman, she was informed that there was a crisis at KTN due to two Swahili staff on maternity leave. She decided to take part in the interviews and luckily she was chosen.
